Fire at the Design Warehouse

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire at the Design Warehouse, Hume.

Crews were notified following an Automatic Fire Alarm activation and The blaze was extinguished shortly after crews arrived on scene.

Damage to the building was contained to a metal flue extraction system.

The fire is believed to have started in a painting booth facility.

Approximately 30 people were evacuated from the building.

Three fire pumpers, the Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform, the Breathing Apparatus Support Van and two Command vehicles attended the scene.

Crews are currently ventilating the area and will investigate the cause.

ACT Fire & Rescue has departed the scene.

Cause of fire has been determined as a mechanical failure within the extraction system.
