Florey house gives up another gun

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team has executed a second search warrant on a Florey home (Saturday, May 3) locating an illicit firearm from behind a stud wall in the toilet.

Acting on further information received police returned to the home around 6pm where they removed plasterboard from a stud wall in the toilet of the residence locating the sawn off barrel of a .22 calibre rifle.

Police also located in other locations throughout the residence, the trigger guard and other various fixings believed to belong to the same firearm.

During a previous search warrant on April 24 police had searched the same home resulting in a .22 calibre rifle, ammunition, two replica handguns, a conducted energy weapon, cash small quantity of drugs being seized.

At the time of the previous warrant a 39 year-old man was taken into custody and charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition.

Following the second search warrant on the weekend further firearm charges are pending.
