Gas leak at the Morshead nursing home

FIREFIGHTERS are currently evacuating residents at the Morsehead Nursing Home, Archibald Street, Lyneham following a gas leak.

Workmen have ruptured a gas line in the roof of the nursing home and ACT Fire & Rescue is evacuating the area as a precaution.

Gas leak has been isolated and ACT Fire & Rescue is conducting ventilation operations.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics are also on scene with no injuries reported.

Approximately 90 residents and staff have been evacuated as a precaution.

ACT Fire & Rescue is continuing with air monitoring operations to ensure the area is safe before allowing residents to return.

ACT Fire & Rescue has given the all-clear and will remain on site assisting Nursing Home staff with returning residents to the building.
