Gilmore burglars repeatedly targeting an elderly man

police

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated burglary that occurred at a home in Gilmore on Saturday (December 13).

About 3am entry was forced into the residence on Henry Melville Crescent and a television was taken.

A witness to the incident saw three to four males running from the house and getting into a light-coloured sedan with a square-shaped boot, possibly an older model Ford or similar.

The victim is an 87-year-old man, who was home at the time. The residence has previously been targeted by offenders and subject to burglary. Police suspect these offences may be related and offenders may be targeting the residence.

“It’s despicable that people would prey on a vulnerable person like this, it’s a particularly low act which is not tolerated by the Canberra community,” Officer in Charge Tuggeranong Station Sergeant Joanne Cameron said.

Police are urging anyone who may have sighted a vehicle of similar appearance in the area at the time or any information regarding the incident that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
