Police-afp-cops-9720-400x266

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a hit and run in Red Hill last night (Thursday, 10 April) where a cyclist was struck by a car.

About 7.45pm a 21-year-old cyclist was travelling east on Hindmarsh Drive when a light gold coloured Mercedes Benz sedan, travelling north on Jerrabomberra Avenue, turned left into the slip lane at the intersection and collided with him.

The cyclist was thrown from his bike onto the bonnet of the Mercedes Benz and the vehicle proceeded to accelerate some 200 metres with the man still on the bonnet.

The cyclist managed to roll himself off the vehicle and sustained minor abrasions to his arm. The driver of the Mercedes Benz fled the scene without stopping.

The victim received treatment at The Canberra Hospital for minor injuries.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision who have not yet spoken to police or anyone who may be able to identify the driver of the light gold colored Mercedes Benz sedan to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
