How green is my… Green Square

SPORTING probably the greenest public space in heatwave affected Canberra, Green Square in Kingston has been restored to its former glory with the completion of turf being laid over the past week.

After months of haggling with a noisy Kingston traders group, the Government rolled over and agreed to the removal of its visitor-unfriendly, drought-proof plantings ¬†and allowed the traders to fund the installation of turf, returning the square’s heritage values and smiles to the shopkeepers.

How it used to look before the revamp this week.

Who says the ACT government are only stubbon and don’t listen? Perhaps they will now listen to the many DV308 objectors who don’t want 15 stoyey apartments in Reid and Braddon residential areas by just rezoning to commercial.
