ACT Policing has seized a number of weapons, ammunition, and a small amount of drugs during a search warrant overnight (Monday 14 April) in Gordon.

Members from ACT Policing’s Tuggeranong Crime team seized a .12 gauge pump action shot gun and rounds, an air rifle with pellets, a double edged sword, a conducted energy weapon, extendable batons, knuckle dusters, handcuffs and a small amount of drugs.

Multiple resources were utilised, including Criminal Investigations, Special Response Group’s Tactical Response and Negotiators, Bomb Response Team, Firearms Registry and the K9 unit.

Investigations are currently ongoing and charges are expected to be laid.

This result comes as the Illicit Firearms campaign enters its final weeks, finishing on 30 April 2014. Under the campaign, rewards of up to $5000 are available for information that leads to the recovery of a firearm, or identity of anyone who may be using, keeping or making illicit firearms.

Anyone who has information about an illicit firearm or suspects someone is involved in the criminal use or possession of a firearm is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via its website: www.act.crimestoppers.com.au

Reports to Crime Stoppers can be provided anonymously.

Further information about the illicit firearm rewards strategy can be found via the ACT Policing website www.police.act.gov.au
