Penny Grist, chair of the Megalo Board, said the board was looking forward to working with Hansen, previously the manager of Public Programs at Megalo.

Hansen has a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Graphic Investigation from the ANU School of Art. After graduating she co-founded Finlay Press, a private press dedicated to producing books by contemporary Australian artists & writers and with Finlay Lloyd, a commercial publishing venture. She also worked as a freelance graphic designer and owned a bookshop in Braidwood.

Ms Grist said in announcing the appointment, “Ingeborg Hansen’s dedication to Megalo and passion for printmaking give us great confidence in the organisation’s future under her leadership…Importantly for a print studio that embraces screen-print, intaglio, relief and lithography, Ingeborg is accomplished across print media. Her recent work will appear alongside that of GW Bot and former Megalo Director Alison Alder in the exhibition, ‘Interchange,’ to be shown in Sydney, Thailand and Canberra.”

Ms Grist added that Hansen had designed Megalo’s 30-year anniversary book “Megalomania,” launched last year and had lectured in book design at the ANU since 2012.

For her part, Hansen, who succeeds Alison Alder, recently appointed Head of Workshop, Printmedia and Drawing, at the School of Art said, “I am excited to continue working with the great team at Megalo and to lead the organisation through the growth of the Kingston Arts Precinct. I have begun building strong relationships with the Inner South Arts Hub, reinforcing the solid foundations of the vibrant arts scene in Canberra.”
