WHILE Giralang shops lie long derelict the surrounding area’s business owners are celebrating that the High Court has given leave to hear their appeal against the decision to build a Woolies on the site.
“The High Court of Australia has granted an alliance of north Canberra businesses leave to appeal from a decision of the ACT Court of Appeal last November which found that the group did not have standing to challenge the decision of ACT Planning Minister, Simon Corbell to approve a redevelopment of the Giralang Local Centre,” said a statement from lawyers Bradley Allen Love.
At least once the High Court has finished with the matter after hearing it in September or August there will be no further appeal.
