Joss Construction gets the nod to build Coombs Primary

Joy Burch

Joy Burch says Joss Construction has won the contract for the construction of the new $47 million Coombs Primary School.

Work is expected to start next month, with the school to be ready for the 2016 school year.

“With 55,000 people expected to move into Molonglo over the next 30 years, the Government is building the vital infrastructure that our new communities will need,” Joy said.

“The school will be the first community facility provided in the Molonglo Valley, with the wider community able to use facilities including the school hall, oval and meeting rooms.

“It will be delivered using a Design Construct Maintain methodology, in which the construction contractor takes care of the design and building of the project and then the longer term maintenance of the buildings, providing better value for money for the project and the Territory.

“Coombs Primary School will be able to cater for around 720 preschool and primary school students, predominantly from the growing suburbs of Coombs and Wright.
