MIXED media designer Kieran Stopp describes his new clothing line as a “fusion” of his passions – photography, music and fashion.

The 25-year-old Wanniassa resident recently launched “I Heart Threads”, a collection of T-shirts and hoodies with his sketches or photography printed on to the garments.

Stopp’s prints range from photography of Canberra’s landscape, such as Lake Burley Griffin, to sketches of faces, microphones or guitars and “abstract psychedelic art”.

“I’ve had heaps of requests from people who want a sketch of something in particular that means something to them, which can be worn on their shirt,” Stopp says.

“It’s making fashion very personal, so I think that’s why people have been drawn to it.”

He has just had his first solo exhibition at The Front Gallery in Lyneham, and held another exhibition in Melbourne last month.

Stopp, who studied design at high school but has had no formal training, says his prints can also be used on canvas or skateboard decks.

“Creating prints for skateboards in particular is something that I had never seen before. I was a skater for 10 years and I thought that could be really popular,” he says. – Laura Edwards
