Letters / Love your trees, or else…

I AM writing as a visitor to Canberra, who finds great charm and a feeling of “soul” in the tree’d feel of our “Bush Capital”.

I recently heard a comment on your local radio that temperatures can vary as much as 7C between new suburban areas and the older suburbs with shaded streets.

Something for all Canberrans to think about! What sort of environment do you want? Now and for your grandkids?

Sunflower Dash thanks

ON behalf of the Leukaemia Foundation, I would like to thank your readers who brought sunshine to those with blood cancer through the support and participation in the Sunflower Dash on Sunday, June 29.

Currently, there are more than 50,000 Australians living with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma. The funds raised by the Sunflower Dash will help the Foundation provide emotional support to those living with blood cancer and their families at no cost.

As the Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding, we rely on the support of the community to continue our Mission to Care and Vision to Cure.

On behalf of all those diagnosed and their families, who will be supported as a direct result of the Sunflower Dash, thank you.

Christine McMillan, general manager,

Leukaemia Foundation NSW and ACT
