Love of clay celebrated

CANBERRA Potters’ Society has now opened an exhibition celebrating the student-teacher relationships resulting from their classes.

On show work created by some of the many students, both adults and children, who attend the society’s classes, and the teachers who share with them their skills and love of clay.

Potters’ Society is a hive of activity throughout the year. Adult classes include sculpture, hand-building and wheel work and provide tuition for beginners through to experienced potters. They provide pottery wheels for each student and a range of workshop equipment. Additionally, students are taught decorating and glazing techniques and an understanding of the firing process.

Best of all, Canberra Potters’ Society – they think uniquely — also offers after-school, weekend and holiday classes for children.

The Society is quick to point out that their teachers who are all excellent potters in their own right.
