Majura Park Woolworths selling out of date stock

woolworths lasagna

A keen eyed “CityNews” reader out at Majura Park yesterday (May 17) was surprised to see the “fresh” lasagna was five days past its use by date and still on the shelves.

With a heady mix of meat and dairy this seems like more than a minor oversight.

“CityNews” contacted Woolworths for comment yesterday and has had no response at this time.

UPDATE 19/05/2014 09:40: Woolworths have responded with this statement:

Woolworths works hard to ensure that stock on our shelves remains in date. We conduct regular inspections and remove items that are no longer able to be sold, often marking them down for a quick sale before their best before date.

Any customer who purchases out of date stock that we may have missed is of course entitled to return it to the store for a full refund or replacement.

One Response to Majura Park Woolworths selling out of date stock

Flane Down says: 19 May 2014 at 8:32 am

This is not the first time. Last time I shopped there I found prepackaged figs being sold under the banner The Fresh Food People 10 days past their use by date. Woolworths Gungahlin is notorious for it’s out of date dairy, milk, yoghurt, cream, ice cream melting, green meat (pork) and filthy smelly food cabinets. All complaints are met with an astounding silence and then a couple of weeks ago a strong smell of sewerage invaded the store. We were told that the plumber had been called but was busy so because staff were feeling ill they closed cashier checkouts near the liquor outlet and moved everyone closer to the self service area. Woolworths never, ever respond to any comments or provide any sort of feedback. I am sure this will not be the only time their laziness will be noted.
