Police arrest the suspected shoplifter in the yard of the Gungahlin Police Station.
POLICE have arrested a 30-year-old shoplifting suspect after he ran from officers, scaled the fence and jumped into the joint Emergency Services Centre, which includes the Gungahlin Police Station.

The man, from Red Hill, was the subject of a shoplifting incident in Gungahlin on Tuesday afternoon. Police were called to the Gungahlin Bus Interchange following a report from a staff member of the Reject Shop that a man had left the store with a trolley full of items and made no attempt to pay for them.

The staff member identified the alleged offender to police on Ernest Cavanagh Street. The man then fled in a northerly direction crossing Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

It’s quite simply unbelievable to watch what Gungahlin delivers on a day to day basis as far as news goes. You would think that if you were going to become a thief, you would have a getaway plan and maybe know where the police station was. Maybe they just aren’t quite as bright from the other side of town?
