A man has suffered serious burns following a kitchen fire in Downer.
Intensive care paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting him to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
The ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue were called to the Burn Street home at 11:31am.
It is believed the man was cooking when the fire broke out. Crews extinguished it quickly on arrival.
Two pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, Hazardous Materials Unit and a commander are still at the scene with firefighters conducting ventilation operations.
Damage to the kitchen is estimated at $40,000.
