JOY Burch, wearing her Minister for Disability hat, has announced new contracts to run properties providing respite care to children and teenagers with disabilities.
“From mid-2014, Marymead will operate the Kese property providing respite care for five to 12-year-olds. A partnership of The Disability Trust and DUO Services will run the respite homes for people aged 12 to 18 at the Teen centre and adults at the Hughes centre.
“This is a significant milestone in the provision of respite services for people with disabilities and their families in the territory,” Ms Burch said.
“From the middle of this year, the non-government sector will be responsible for providing centre-based and flexible respite care.”
Marymead and DUO are also receiving funding to provide flexible respite arrangements to families.
