“SHADES of Monday”, described to CityNews as “an awesome a cappella group”, is looking for a new director.
Founded in 2011 by Libby Oakes-Ash and Nicole Nunan, it’s been going gangbusters, receiving good reviews, and playing a part in the community as it did in its “Loungin’ by the Lake” fundraiser at Belconnen Arts Centre.
Though primarily a cappella, the auditioned group also includes instruments played by group members. This year they’ll be concentrating on jazz and songs from Military history, with the plan to present a concert in 2015 commemorating the centenary of WW1.
At the moment it is a group of 22 singers (7 men, 15 women and a beat-boxer).
Now with the founding MD heading off to do her Masters, “Shades” need someone to direct them, preferably a clever person with conducting, vocal and piano skills who is also creative, fun, and likes to think “outside the square.”
They rehearse on Tuesday nights in Belconnen during school terms only. This is a paid, casual position.
Visit shadesofmonday.com and email the group at shadesofmonday@gmail.com
