WILDERCOYLE furniture and design is a partnership between furniture maker Nicholas Coyle and architect Sunny Wilder Architect, who collaborate design and construct anything from furniture items to whole houses.

Based in Pambula  on the South coast, they craft all the furniture pieces in their own studio workshop and centres around the use of native Australian timbers.

Now WilderCoyle have told us, they have been selected by Craft ACT to exhibit at the POD exhibition space at the Lonsdale Street Traders building in Braddon from today until May 11.

“We are utilising the Pod space as a venue to introduce our bespoke timber furniture company and give the people of Canberra a place to experience our work,” they say. Adding, “Our inspiration comes from the spatial nature of the furniture object, timber as a raw material and the notion of true craft.

Among the new range of works on show will be a circular table, a dining table, a hat stand and a couch, one of their classic low line cabinets and a special edition series of small round tables.

WilderCoyle furniture and design was formally The Timber Trip, a furniture company Coyle began in Brunswick Street Fitzroy 20 years ago. Former clients include Oxfam Australia, the National Australia Bank, The Melbourne Aquatic Centre, and the National Gallery of Victoria.

They shifted from Melbourne 3 years ago to follow their  dream of building the ‘House of Cupboards,’ a flat pack sustainable low cost house prototype — and of course to be closer to nature and supplies of beautiful native hardwoods.
