The Oaks Estate mulch pile is on fire yet again

ACT Fire & Rescue is currently working to extinguish a mulch fire near Florence and Railway Streets, Oaks Estate.

No structures are at risk and the size of the mulch fire is approximately 20 metres x 20 metres.

Firefighters are using Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) tankers to extinguish the much fire as well as earthmoving equipment.

Two CAFS tankers are on scene, one fire pumper and one Commander.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 7.27am.

The location of the mulch fire at Oaks Estate is near Mountain Road and Nimrod Road and not Florence and Railway Streets.

ACT Rural Fire Service is now assisting ACT Fire & Rescue in working to extinguish the mulch fire at Oaks Estate.

Two more appliances have been requested from the ACTRFS to assist in extinguishing the mulch fire.

Fire is under control.

Estimated size of the mulch fire remains at approximately 20 metres x 20 metres and three metres high.

Firefighters are separating the pile of mulch to get to the seed of the fire.

Mulch fire has been extinguished.

Crews will remain on scene for sometime to relocate the mulch and continue to wet down with foam.
