CANBERRA CBD LTD have announced that this year’s Skate In The City is going to be opened by Australia’s ground breaking Olympic ice dancers Danielle O’Brien and Greg Merriman.

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympians O’Brien and Merriman will perform for the Grand Opening of Skate in the City next Friday night June 20 at 7pm.

They were the first Australian Ice Dance team to compete at the Olympics since 1988, with the pair placing 20th at Sochi in February.

Their performance at Skate in the City will be their first on Australian soil since Sochi.

Following O’Brien and Merriman’s first Australian performance of the year the public will take to the ice for the first of 221 sessions across the month.

There will be seven sessions daily starting from 10:30am, with an extra session at 8:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights.
