Partial solar eclipse for Tuesday afternoon

solar eclipse prediction

IT’S been a busy time in the skies over Canberra lately but a partial eclipse is being promised for tomorrow afternoon which, clouds permitting, should be reasonably spectacular.

The Time and Date eclipse calculator predicts the moon will pass in front of the sun at 4.09pm with maximum eclipse at 5.13pm followed by sunset, still in eclipse at 5.21pm.

Sadly the forecast is for increasing cloud tomorrow, but it will be worth keeping an eye on the sky.

At this point let us remind you that looking at the sun is a very, very bad idea and looking at it through a telescope or binoculars even more so.

NASA has a handy page on eye safety but suffice to say do not look directly at it even with sun glasses.
