A pea green Lake Burley Griffin

SYDNEY may lay claim to being the emerald city, but Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin is really getting into the spirit of autumnal colour.

The swans are showing off tide marks of scum as they forge through the verdant waters but appear otherwise unharmed.

The whole central basin appears to be glorying in the algae outbreak which is a distressing change from the natural colour of Australian waterways, dark brown.
