The Phoenix finally rises from the ashes!

in the phoenix

LIKE its mythical namesake Canberra’s much loved Phoenix Pub has come back from fiery death.

While the Sydney Building remains in part a burned out disgrace to Canberra the bar has been able to shift sideways into what had been its new expansion.

Beers are on tap, the decor is familiar, and tatoos, facial hair, corsetry, and vivid hair colours abound.

Hopefully the regular programs of entertainment that have been wandering around Canberra venues like gypsies for the past few months can find their way home.

If you’ve somehow managed to not have the pleasure you can always check out the website.

Who can be trusted?

In a world of spin and confusion, there’s never been a more important time to support independent journalism in Canberra.

If you trust our work online and want to enforce the power of independent voices, I invite you to make a small contribution.

Every dollar of support is invested back into our journalism to help keep citynews.com.au strong and free.
