Police seek witnesses to fatal crash

A CYCLIST involved in a road accident in Reid on February 11 died early this morning, and police accident investigators are calling for any witnesses to come forward.

Victor Carnavole, 47, was hit by a silver Toyota Prius that was travelling west on Ainslie Ave, as he was riding across the busy road at about 6.20pm in the evening on Tuesday, February 11.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet and collided with the front of the Prius, suffering serious injuries to his head and face.

He was taken to Canberra Hospital, where he died from his injuries this morning just after midnight.

The driver of the Prius was interviewed by police at the scene and returned a negative breath test for alcohol.

It is the second road fatality for the ACT in 2014.

Any witnesses to the collision on February 11 who have not already spoken with investigators can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at act.crimestoppers.com.au
