Queanbeyan Council still waiting for anyone at all to want to help it with its rates and charges

council chambers

QUEANBEYAN City Council has extended nominations for the Rates and Charges Advisory Committee until Tuesday 18 October 2014.

Council sought nominations for the newly-established committee during September, however no nominations were forthcoming. At Council’s meeting on Wednesday 24 September, Council agreed to readvertise for the two positions.

The Committee has been established to review the rates and charges Council levies for water consumption, water access, sewer access and domestic and business waste charges and the associated policies and procedures.

Expressions of interest are sought for two positions on the committee:

Independent legal advisor:

Applicants must have an understanding of the Local Government Act and Regulations.

Applicants must not be a member of Queanbeyan City Council’s legal panel, must not be representing any ratepayers who have received supplementary notices from Queanbeyan City Council and must not represent the Queanbeyan Residents and Ratepayers Association.

Experienced Local Government practitioner/administrator:

Applicants must have a sound understanding of Local Government and the Local Government Act and Regulations.

The Rates and Charges Advisory Committee includes Cr Sue Whelan (chairperson), Cr Peter Bray, Cr Jamie Cregan and Cr Brian Brown.

Applicants can apply via email to council@qcc.nsw.gov.au, in mail to PO Box 90 Queanbeyan NSW or delivered in person to 257 Crawford St. For further information on the committee visit www.qcc.nsw.gov.au.
