Royal Family to visit Canberra

INCOMING Governor-General Peter Cosgrove has reportedly let slip the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may visit Canberra with their newborn son, Prince George, during their Australian tour in April.

After he met the Queen at Buckingham Palace overnight, Mr Cosgove told reporters the royal family’s visit would be “very welcome.”

“They’ll bring with them Prince George the little one,” Mr Cosgrove said.

“They’ll be in Sydney and then in Canberra after their sojourn in New Zealand.”

Mr Cosgrove later back peddled, saying “I don’t know – I’m not yet the governor-general.”

“I think every Aussie who likes the idea of royal couples having their children with them on tour will hope that’s the case, but let’s wait and see.”

An announcement is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
