POLICE placed several schools around Manuka and Red Hill under “lockdown” this afternoon after they received a report of a man in the area with a gun, at about 1.40pm.
The lockdowns were lifted some time before 3.15pm, and a 25-year-old man is now in custody.
No illegal firearm was seen, and police are now investigating whether the report was a hoax.
The 25-year-old is being held under a First Instance Warrant, which is for a prior offence or failure to attend court proceedings when required.
