Second machete pizza store robbery in week

POLICE are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a pizza store armed with a machete in Weston last night.

Around 10:15pm, the man entered Domino’s Pizza on Trennery Street, armed with a machete and demanded cash from the staff. The staff complied and the man fled the store. He was last seen running towards Brierly Street.

The male is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 183cm (6’) tall and of a medium build. His face was covered at the time of the incident.

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations officers are investigating the incident. Police are canvasing nearby businesses for any available CCTV.

The robbery follows a similar incident, where a man robbed a Florey pizza store armed with a machete earlier this week.

Police are urging anyone with information which can assist in identifying the man, or anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity around Weston shops last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
