AT last the news Canberra arts-watchers have been waiting for all week – the address of the hitherto ‘secret’ gallery in Braddon.

At 6pm on Thursday, June 5, a new creative studio/gallery space will open in Lonsdale Street – and you’re all invited.

The micro-gallery, created by ‘The Lost and Found Office’ (artists Ben Chapman and Bobby Cerini), is intended to be a vibrant new addition to the trendy Braddon design scene and is tucked away in studio space at 25 Lonsdale Street.

On show will be “The Q Collection,” some of the work created by members of the Queanbeyan region’s underground arts community in recent years, especially at The Artists Shed in Foster Street Queanbeyan, sadly to be sold any day now (the artists will keep working), hence this pop-up exhibit and others like it to come.

The micro-gallery will feature photographic textiles and up-cycled furnishings by Chapman and Cerini, handmade ceramics by Alicia Kane, post-pop art by Ric Bennett, collage and abstract works by Dennis Mortimer, and provocative paintings by Ying Xhang.

“The purpose of this space is to connect people with art and design in accessible ways” says Chapman. “As well as exhibiting works we’re planning micro-events and activities in the space that will invite people in to engage with the creative arts in new ways.”

Events will include ‘lightning’ talks by artists, hands-on workshops, interested group meet-ups and guerrilla gigs by performance artists.
