Tindale, with Mal Meninga and Ricky Stuart, yesterday unveiled one of the most unusual new accommodation prospects in Canberra, the Jamala Wildlife Lodge.

Ten years in the planning, Richard and Maureen Tindale have long wanted to offer close and safe encounters with wildlife at their zoo and after visitng other zoos and game parks offered, they’ve up withteh idea of an “intimate, relaxing and luxurious” experience offering close encounters with some of the zoo’s wildlife in specially embedded accommodation.

Visitors will be able to choose from three five-star African-inspired accommodation hubs: Giraffe Treehouses, Jungle Bungalows and uShaka Lodge.

“The combination of opulent surroundings, incredible animal encounters and gourmet cuisine alongside Jamala’s first class hospitality ensures that all guests partake in a once in a lifetime experience during their stay,” Tindale said today.

“You can bathe while a bear grazes on the other side of the window, relax on your lounge while looking into the face of a lion, feed the giraffes or get ready for dinner while sharks swim by.” He said this experience is offered by only a handful of zoos around the world.

“When Maureen and I bought the property in 1998 we wanted to build a major zoo that housed animals in as comfortable surroundings as possible so most of the animal habitats are far larger than found in other urban zoos and the husbandry and welfare are aimed at achieving world’s best practices,” he said.

Jamala Wildlife Lodge is now open for bookings for stays commencing this Friday December 19, 2014. For more information visit jamalawildlifelodge.com.au

Absolutely ashamed to be Australian now. Animal exploitation at its worst with animals kept behind glass for sick humans pleasure. Disgusted with this and that we have again stepped back to the dark ages when it comes to caring for wildlife.
