Smash and grab at city jewellery store

A DARING thief smashed open a cabinet at a Civic jewellery store this afternoon, grabbed some items and escaped with the loot as bystanders chased after him.

Police afp copsPolice say the man entered the Arnold and Co. store in the Canberra Centre just before 2pm this afternoon and made off with several items. He was chased by members of the public, but they lost sight of him within the busy shopping centre.

He was not seen with any kind of weapon, nor did he threaten any staff members.

The offender is described as Caucasian, approximately 165cm-170cm (5’5”-5’7”) tall with a slim build and a tattoo on the right side of his neck.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, light coloured cargo pants and a round, white cotton sun hat at the time of the daylight robbery.
