rpca

Hurry. The early bird discount the Artists Society of Canberra Summer Art Experience ends on October 17.

Well known Canberra artist and member of ASOC, Ian Sharpe, tells “CityNews” that the popular annual social and educational art workshop offers participants a chance to meet and work with some of Australia’s finest contemporary artists.

The 2015 Summer Art Experience will be held over 5 days at the Kingsford Smith School, Holt ACT. It is divided into 12 individual workshops with all skill levels catered for.

Each will be led by a highly qualified tutor selected from Australia’s community of working artists and workshops are limited to 12 participants to ensure a close working experience for both the tutor and the student.

The tutors for 2015 will be: Hugh Adamson of Sturt, SA, acrylics focussing on landscapes and portraiture; Hadieh Afshani of Coopers Plains, Queensland, charcoal life drawing; Ray Barnett of Ainslie, watercolours focussing on people at work and play; Mark Dober of Travancore, Victoria, oils focussing on Plein air landscapes and still life; Lyn Diefenbach of Yeppoon in Queensland, Pastels focussing on landscapes and portraits; Gay Emmerson of Scullin, mixed media, primarily oil pastel focussing on landscapes, seascapes, figures and portraits; De Gillett of Wynnum, Queensland, acrylics, inks and oils on coloured experimental expressions; Peter Griffen of Leichhardt, NSW, acrylics applied in abstractions; Pamela Griffith of Bardwell Park, NSW, water-based mixed media applied in still life and landscapes, Ilona Lasmanis of Braddon, mixed media applied in composition and the principles of tone, colour and structure; John WILSON of Katoomba, NSW, oils with a focus on Australian Landscapes; and Naomi Zouwer of Dickson, charcoal, teaching the fundamentals of drawing with a focus on illustrative art.

Interested participants should list three workshop preferences and places will be allocated according to availability.
