Thoroughbred Park cancels their next race meet

Canberra’s horse racing industry has suffered a blow with the resurfacing of Thoroughbred Park hitting a snag and the 30 May meet being abandoned.

A major renovation of the turf course proper was undertaken in April/May.

“I regret the need to abandon this race meeting as I have empathy with our participants particularly for the inconvenience and additional costs this creates. Race meetings provide the opportunity to win prize money which is part of the funding cycle of racing. We are confident that the track renovation will provide an ongoing benefit for racing into the future,” Club CEO Peter Stubbs said.
