Tuggeranong Community Council asking hard questions of the tram

capital metro

THE Tuggeranong Community Council has called for an audit of the financial management of the Capital Metro Project.

In a letter to the ACT Auditor-General, Dr Maxine Cooper, TCC President, Eric Traise says while the Council’s main concerns are the likely huge cost and the adverse impact on the cost of living for all Canberrans, the Council is also concerned the financial aspects of the project are not being managed in accordance with accepted project management principles.

“Capital Metro Minister, Simon Corbell has publicly admitted the Government is spending money on works that are outside the $614 million budget”, Eric said.

“Council’s fear is that all costs that are legitimately part of this project will not be captured and Canberrans will never know the true cost of the project.”
