A 21-year-old Chisholm motorcycle rider has collided with a stationary police car early this morning (Wednesday, 16 April).
About 4.15am this morning, members from Tuggeranong Police Station were conducting laser speed detection in the north bound lanes of the Monaro Highway, in Hume, about 100 metres south of the Mugga Way turn off.
Around this time a motorcycle rider was detected travelling at 156km/hr in a posted 80km/hr zone.
When directed to stop the rider lost control of his motorcycle, coming off the bike, and colliding with the rear of the AFP car.
ACT Ambulance Service attended and conveyed the rider to The Canberra Hospital for observation, with minor injuries.
The man is likely to be summonsed for the traffic offences which include speeding, driving an unregistered motorcycle and being an unlicenced rider.
The police car received minor damage.
