Volunteers wanted for Camp Quality

CAMP QUALITY needs 50 new volunteers to help run its fun camps for kids with cancer in the ACT.

campQWith 94 female volunteers and only 54 males on the books, the local arm of the charity is in particular need of male volunteers and people with medical qualifications, either doctors or registered nurses.

Only 44 of its 148 registered volunteers were able to attend a camp in the past year.

Camp Quality volunteer advisor Tegan Davies says the kids are given gender-matched support at the camps “because this specialised approach is proven to boost their confidence, after cancer has attempted to rob it from them” and that the boys are currently missing out on that.

Currently, the charity is having to fly medical volunteers in from interstate due to the shortage. Recruiting more local volunteers will clearly save money and allow it to do more good in the ACT.

This week, May 12-18, is National Volunteer Week.
