Water usage remains at record high

CANBERRA’S water consumption remains at record high levels, with usage over the last seven days 300 megalitres higher than it was the previous week.

According to ACTEW Water, last week’s total consumption was 1730 ML compared to the previous week which was 1422 ML.

Saturday and Sunday had a combined water usage of 471 ML (Saturday 239 ML and Sunday 232 ML) which was less than Thursday and Friday of last week (272 ML each day) but still high when compared with the average daily consumption rates of 130 ML.

Last week Canberrans recorded high consumption of water on most days of the week, particularly on the Thursday and Friday which was the highest since March 2006.

It is expected that consumption levels will fall and rise as the weather patterns change.
