Woman burned in McKellar house fire

A woman has sustained minor injuries after a small fire inside a home at McKellar.

The ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue were alerted to the incident in Fred Jones Crescent at 5 o’clock.

Firefighters arrived a short time later and entered the home to find a set of curtains alight which they quickly extinguished.

Intensive care paramedics treated the female occupant on scene for minor burns to her legs and arms sustained while she was trying to put the fire out.

She’ll be transported to Calvary Hospital in a stable condition for further medical attention.

Only minimal damage was caused by the fire. the cause was accidental.

The woman has been taken to the Canberra Hospital, not Calvary as previously reported.
