Writers’ Centre gets Australia Council grant

THE popular ACT Writers Centre. Located in Gorman House Arts Centre,  has just secured funding from the Australia Council for the Arts for a professional development program for fiction writers in 2014.

The idea of the program is to  help fiction writers produce the best possible manuscripts, facilitate relationships between writers and literary professionals, and break down the barriers of location and geography, thus linking Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney and the regional areas in between.

The program will offer a range of master-classes and seminars throughout 2014 with Australian publishing professionals.

“This is an exciting development for us,” ACT Writers Centre director Kelli-Anne Moore said, adding, “For some time we have been working towards providing greater assistance to emerging writers who are serious about their work. Now we can deliver.”

Applications will open in March.
