ACT Policing has arrested a 23-year-old man and 16-year-old teenager following a burglary in Gordon yesterday (August 7).

Around 12.15pm a woman returned to her home and suspected that someone was inside the residence after hearing the sound of a window opening.

The woman contacted police and members of the Tuggeranong Patrol responded to the incident a short time later. No persons were located within the premises; however a canvass of the area resulted in a description of the two male offenders along with a white Toyota Land cruiser utility they were travelling in.

Around 1pm members of the Criminal Investigations Crime Targeting Team observed the white Toyota Land cruiser utility travelling along Box Hill Avenue, Banks. The driver of the vehicle and the passenger were recognised as the two offenders to the burglary.

The 16-year-old teen made admissions to the burglary and the property stolen was located in the white Toyota Land cruiser. During the apprehension the teen was found to be in possession of a quantity of illicit substance suspected of being methylamphetamine, while the 23-year-old man was in possession of knuckle dusters.

The 16-year-old teenager was arrested and will face the ACT Children’s Court today on charges relating to burglary, theft and possessing prohibited substance.

The 23-year-old man was arrested and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with theft and aid/abetting burglary.
