A step forward for the Gungahlin cinema

meegan fitzharris

MEEGAN Fitzharris says a cinema in Gungahlin is one step closer today after the preferred tenderer, the Krnc Group, settled the contract to develop the site.

“I’m very pleased to see the preferred tenderer has finally settled the contract for the site on the corner of Hibberson Street and Hinder Street to build a cinema,” Meegan said.

“I know this will be great news for people living in Gungahlin who are eager to see more entertainment options in the town centre, especially for young people in our region.

“While it has taken longer than expected to get to this point, it’s a relief to know that the process is progressing and there is more certainty around the project.

“It’s not the job of governments to build cinemas, but we have done all we can to help deliver this development for Gungahlin.

“There is a lot of activity in Gungahlin Town Centre at the moment, much of it in anticipation of light rail.

“I look forward to seeing Gungahlin’s first cinema development progress,” said Ms Fitzharris.
