ActewAGL want you to keep the utility assets clear in your garden

ACTEWAGL is reminding the public that maintaining easy access to utility assets can mean the difference between waiting thirty minutes and a few hours to regain electricity and water supply to streets in the event of an emergency or storm?

ActewAGL, your electricity and gas provider, and Icon Water, your water and sewerage utility, are coming together to remind the public to keep all utility assets clear of obstructions.

Utility assets on your property can include:

  • electricity, gas and water meters
  • manholes
  • substations and minipillars
  • service cables
  • and other electrical equipment.

“In order to keep servicing Canberra and the surrounding area crews need to be able to access assets on or around your property for inspections, maintenance and emergency repairs,” ActewAGL General Manager Energy Networks Stephen Devlin said.

“The public can help us by ensuring crews have unobstructed access to assets on their property so any issues can be rectified quickly and easily.

“It’s important to make sure all leaf litter, shrubs, hedges and rocks are clear from substations and minipillars.”

“In addition to maintenance, repairs and keeping our crews safe, emergency service responders also need quick and safe access to our assets in the event of a fire or emergency,” Icon Water’s David Hohnke said.

“Overgrown shrubbery or other obstacles can have serious consequences.

“By keeping assets clear on your property ActewAGL and Icon Water can continue to provide Canberra homes with reliable electricity and gas supply and top quality water and wastewater services.”
