OOH La La, Baby et Lulu are coming to town.

Actually, they’re not really French, but the seductive chanteuses who write original compositions in French, Abby Dobson (“Baby”) and Lara Goodridge (“Lulu”) are true blue Aussies.

On Sunday, May 10, they’ll perform at the inaugural Segue European festival coming up at The Street Theatre.

Goodridge says: “I’ve been infatuated with France for as long as I can remember…The Sorbonne in Paris is the oldest university in the world, so it’s no wonder that France has long been a home of radical thought, yet presented with beauty and elegance.”

To Dobson it’s more that “my love of French music followed my love of French language, food and sensuality.”

Fantastique as that may be, it’s not all about France. Segue 2015 is billed as a contemporary festival celebrating the “cultural interplay between the continents of Australia and Europe” and it’s scheduled to coincide with Europe Day celebrations.

The Street Theatre is getting together with the ANU Centre for European Studies to profile contemporary performance with a European dimension involving top digital artists, designers, software engineers and physical theatre artists from Portugal, Sweden, Croatia and Australia

The Street says it’ll be small and intimate in this, the first year, to grow a big idea for what is a five-year project.

Baby et Lulu, The Street Theatre, 4pm, Sunday, May 10, bookings to thestreet.org.au or 6247 1223.
