These were just some of the acts unveiled to the media this morning by the touring company of conjurers, the Illusionists.

Fresh from Dubai, “The Illusionists 1903” aims to transport the audience back to the ‘golden age of magic’, the time of Houdini and the Magic Circle, when conjurers were superstars.

Running for the next week, larger-than-life magic show involves some of the most sophisticated tricks in the book, all revealed in the grand style of stage entertainment from 100 years ago, complete with red velvet curtains and glamorous female magicians’ assistants.

“The Escapologist” will perform Houdini’s death-defying, turn-of-the-century escape from the “Water Torture Cell”, while, as we saw today, “The Immortal” will carry out ‘the greatest levitation act in the world’.

And that’s only the beginning, as they say in showbiz.
