Big burns in the mountains this weekend

ACT Parks and Conservation Service wishes to advise the public that a 958 hectare hazard reduction burn will continue over the weekend at Camelback, north of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. The burn will reduce fire fuel loads in the area and will take three to four days to complete.

A 380 hectare hazard reduction burn will also continue along the Hardy Range to the east of the Cotter River, Namadgi National Park. Pipeline Road in Namadgi National Park will be closed throughout this operation for safety reasons. A 260 hectare hazard reduction burn has been completed Lone Pine to the west of Boboyan Road on the Luton fire trail in Namadgi National Park. The site will continue to be monitored.
