Bikie shootings in Kambah, Stirling and Florey

police

ACT Policing is responding to reports of the discharge of firearms in three incidents overnight (Thursday 12 March).

About 9.50pm last night, police received reports of shots fired in Boustead Circuit, Kambah. Patrols responded and located damage, which appears to be from a gunshot, to a front window of a home. No one was home at the time however neighbours report hearing a car driving away at speed shortly after hearing the gunshots fired.

In a second incident, a 36-year-old man was shot at his home in Barlee Place, Stirling, around 10pm, and sustained injuries. A car was heard leaving the scene shortly after. Police responded and found damage to the front door along with the injured man who has a number of gunshot wounds. His injuries are not considered life threatening. ACT Ambulance Service attended and conveyed the man to The Canberra Hospital for treatment.

A silver Mitsubishi Outlander 4WD was reported seen at both locations and police are seeking any witnesses who may have seen this vehicle in Kambah or Stirling overnight. Witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000, or via the website at act.crimestoppers.com.au.

The third incident occurred in Pawsey Circuit, Florey around 5.15 this morning (Friday, March 13). Police responded to a report of a gunshot fired at a home and a car driving away. Two people were home at the time of the incident and did not sustain any injuries.

A blue Ford Falcon G6 sedan with alloy wheels, or a vehicle of similar appearance, was seen at this location around the time of the incident and police are appealing for any members of the public who saw a vehicle of this description in the Florey area in the early hours of this morning to contact Crime Stoppers.

Deputy Chief Police Officer Justine Gough confirmed that all three overnight incidents are Outlaw Motorcycle Gang-related.

“While we have seen a recent increase in firearm-related incidents this year, all incidents have been targeted attacks and not random. We believe these three incidents to be related as they all have OMCG links,” said Acting Deputy Chief Police Officer, Justine Gough.

“I ask the Canberra community to please contact us if they have any information in relation to any of these incidents or any information relating to illegal firearms.”

“We want to reassure the community that we are actively investigating all of these incidents, and we treat all firearm offences extremely seriously.

We want to remind the ACT community that Canberra is a very safe city to live and raise a family and we want people to continue with their day-to-day activities as normal.”

“Please remember that these aren’t random acts. We believe that each incident is targeted due to ‘issues’ between the parties and detectives have made significant in-roads in each investigation,” said A/DCPO Gough.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious overnight in Kambah, Stirling or Florey is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
