Brown water comes to the Inner North

water

ACTEW Water will be carrying out some essential work today in O’Connor that may lead to some water discolouration for a short period of time in surrounding suburbs.

It is expected that some residents in O’Connor, Turner, Lyneham and Braddon may experience water discolouration.

In most cases the discolouration will dissipate with normal use.

The change in colour normally occurs when the natural sediment is disturbed within the pipes causing the water to take on a brown or reddish colour.

Whilst is it is difficult to predict to what degree the water will be affected, ACTEW Water advises that any discolouration will clear with normal use.

It is recommended that you do not drink the water if it appears, tastes or smells objectionable. Residents experiencing discoloured water are advised not to use washing machines and dishwashers as it may stain clothing or clog filters.

If you continue to experience discoloured water during the above period let us know on 6248 3111 (select option 1).
