Burton here tonight for Retina Australia benefit

AUSTRALIAN muso Yanni Burton is making waves in New York City as a singer-songwriter and bassist, but he’ll be in town tonight performing for a Retina Australia benefit.

A recent graduate of the top-notch Juilliard School, Burton has been touring as a bassist and singer-songwriter through the US and Europe.

In NYC Yanni has performed at 54 Below, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, The Metropolitan Room, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Bitter End. He also opened for the Winner of “The Voice, USA”, Jermaine Paul and has performed with Rufus Wainwright, John Legend and Michelle Williams.

Last year Burton released his debut EP, “SameOldLove”, produced by Kieran Kelly, the multi-Platinum record producer and 4-time ARIA Award winner for Angus and Julia Stone’s Album – Down The Way.

Tonight’s benefit is part of his debut tour to Australia with his own band from New York that features fellow former South Australians, pianist Matthew Sheens and double bassist Alana Dawes, who both now live and work in New York City

Other band members of his band include American musicians, drummer Kenneth Salters, vocalist Tiger Darrow, cellist Peter Pearson, and fellow graduate of Juilliard, the violinist Sarah Koenig-Plonskier.
