THE Commonwealth Bank has opened its first Express branch in Canberra.

“The new branch, which relocated from the existing site next door on Northbourne Avenue, has a new format design which creates a multi-channel banking experience combining mobile, online and in-branch technology and showing how the Bank is responding to customers’ needs to bank at a time and place convenient for them,” said Branch manager Damian Downie.

“The opening of the branch offers Civic residents an interactive banking environment on their doorstep.”

“We are looking forward to helping customers learn how the new technology in branch allows them to bank at a time and in a way that suits their personal needs,” he said.

“I am particularly excited that we are the first CommBank Express branch in the ACT and invite customers to drop in to our technology demonstrations that we will host every day from 16 – 27 February at 10:30am and 2:00pm so we can show them how our technology can make banking even easier.”

Technology includes ATMs, Instant Cash and Cheque Deposit Machines (including coin deposit capability), coin counting machines, coin dispensing machines, NetBank terminals and free Wi-Fi, as well as access to a range of experts via video conferencing for personal and business banking, which is now enabled in all of our branches across Australia.

The new design enhances the in-branch customer experience with a personalised concierge service on arrival and the latest technological innovations, and the open plan design of the branch allows staff to interact and engage with customers directly by removing the traditional barrier of a telling counter.

ACT Area Manager Pat Sanders said the Bank’s specially-trained staff will assist customers with their transactions as well as offer guidance on products and use of technology in branch.

“And importantly, a number of these services are available to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This will benefit many customers, including small business owners, as it gives them more flexibility to complete simple banking transactions outside of branch opening hours,” she said.

The Commonwealth Bank branch in the new location at 33-35 Northbourne Avenue is open from 9:30am to 4:00pm from Monday to Thursday and 9:30am to 5:00pm on Friday. Customers are able to deposit cash, coins and cheques, using our Intelligent Deposit Machines 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
